Hayton Castle Clay Shoot

The Dave Warren Memorial Shoot 2015

Shooters were faced with testing weather conditions this year with scores lower than average, very windy conditions with the odd showers made for an interesting shoot. Spirits weren't dampened though and it proved to be a good shoot with an excellent turnout.

High Gun went to Jon Platts of Doncaster (pictured below) with a respectful 44 ex 50, giving him a one clay lead over regular shooter at Hayton Castle Mr P. Wood. I would like to say thank you to Rob Hall of The Gun Room, who kindly donated cartridges as the high gun prize, which added to a nice prize bag of trophy, cap and a bottle of whisky. Great shooting Jon, well done!

The 4 man team event went to the 'Pot Pinchers' (pictured below), from L-R Paul Docherty, Shaun Docherty, Richard Camm and Neil Hankinson. The 4 deservedly received cartridges donated by Clayworth Shooting Supplies and Hayton Castle Clay Shoot, together with a cap and certificate each. Great shooting lads!

New to this years shoot was the DTL competition, which turned out to be a very popular event. With strong contenders the comp ended on a 3 way shoot off. Going in to the final was Ron Freeman, Neil Hankinson and Margaret Wilson. All three were very strong throughout the final and with only a point difference Neil took 1st place (pictured below), followed by Ron and in 3rd place Margaret. Well done Neil!

Thank you to everyone who made it and helped contribute to the success of the charity shoot. We could not have done it without you, lets hope for better weather next year though. In the meantime happy shooting.

Supreme Champion 2013

Well done to Sean Docherty (pictured below) who secured the supreme champion title for the second year running. He maintained an excellent level of shooting through out the year finishing 2013 off with an average of 42+ ex 50 respectively.

The Dave Warren Memorial Shoot 19th May 2013

Dave Drury (pictured below receiving his trophy and Le Chameau wellingtons from Lee Campion) fought off stiff competition from seasoned shooters Sean Docherty (43ex50), Ashley Bacon (41ex40) and Nigel Watson (41ex50) to become the first ever high gun of the newly named Dave Warren memorial shoot. Well done to Dave who has been a member of Hayton Castle Clay Shoot for many years.

The team event saw strong competition between 'The OAP'S' and 'The Hayton Rejects', with only 2 clays in it 'The OAP'S' secured a clean victory on 150ex200. Well done to Sean Docherty, Dave, John and Russ, who each received a medal, certificate and 125 cartridges.

The charity shoot was well attended with over 100 shooters, helping to raise £670.00 for Cancer Research UK. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated prizes, such as Torne Valley, Le Chameau and Clayworth Shooting Supplies to name a few. Your support and efforts were greatly appreciated.
